Rise and shine! This week, Stamps.com makes waves with a recent acquisition, we look to help with your specific questions related to ecommerce in general, negative self-talk is so last decade, and social media for your Etsy shop is the game-changer right under your nose.

Changing tides: Stamps.com signs a deal to be acquired by Thoma Bravo for $6.6B. Shares are up 68% since this time last week. “The e-commerce landscape is rapidly evolving and we look forward to partnering with the Stamps.com team to continue building on the Company’s leading position in e-commerce shipping solutions.” says Holden Spaht, a Managing Partner at Thoma Bravo.

Streaking: Shopify has recorded a strong streak of surpassing earnings estimates, but can they keep the streak alive? The Zacks Earning ESP sure looks positive. But, what is the Zacks Earning ESP you say? Here’s a totally non-boring video that explains it from a guy who isn’t named Zack.

In other news: Yes, Richard Branson flew along the edge of space. But the bigger news is no, he didn’t ride his bike to the space station. Virgin Galactic Holdings falls by 23% since the successful space flight.

Ecommerce is tough. We’re here to help.

We don’t need to tell you about the continuous rise in popularity of ecommerce because — let’s face it, the signs are all around us. More and more businesses are pushing for conducting sales online. And although it seemed unlikely a couple years ago, even more brick and mortar mom & pops are surviving though online marketplaces like Shopify and smaller Amazon-likes, like Sook.

And as the ecommerce landscape continues to grow, our team at Marmalead wants to make sure we continue to provide insightful and relevant content to our readers and viewers. So, we’re actively seeking your questions related to selling on Etsy, SEO, and ecommerce in general! Drop us a line, and we’ll cover your questions in one of our upcoming YouTube videos!

Not sure what to ask? Try this on for size.

Have a specific question related to your shop? Give us some background, and we’ll give you some direction.

Wondering if something you’ve read in another ecommerce forum is true? Reach out to us and we’ll work to get to the bottom of it with you.

Stressed out about the upcoming holidays? Let us know what’s on your mind and we’ll work through it together.

Need advice on where to take your shop from here? Tell us your story and we’ll share some tried and true examples from Etsy sellers just like you.

Breaking the Habit of Negative Self-Talk

Have you ever paid attention to the words you say to yourself on a daily basis? We all know that negative self-talk is neither productive nor helpful, but NOT talking negatively about ourselves is much easier said than done. Well today, we’re looking at some ways to stop your inner critic in its tracks when it’s being less than helpful.

How to Leverage Social Media for Your Etsy Shop | The Jam

Social media can be a simple and effective way to market your Etsy shop. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest; your buyer is only a swipe and a tap away. This week on the Jam, we’re giving you some easy tips to turn your social media pages into a sales funnel for your Etsy shop! But what’s the catch? Social media isn’t as easy as you might think. Here are some not-so-obvious downsides to social media marketing that you may not have thought of:

1. It’s a time suck
2. You’ll (most likely) be starting at ground zero
3. It’s extra work on your plate
4. You’ll be a small fish in a big pond
5. You’re on social media to sell, but you can’t ALWAYS be selling
6. Follower burnout is real

Did we scare you away yet? If not, good! You’re one step closer to expanding your marketing operations 😎

Coaches: Why You Shouldn’t Live Without ‘Em

At the top tier of just about any sort of endeavor, you’ll find that the performers have coaches. Pianists, orators and athletes all have coaches. In fact, it would be weird if we heard of someone on stage or on the field who didn’t have one.” writes Seth Godin, blogger and founder of Akimbo and altMBA.

Seth, is of course, talking about the importance of coaches in the business world, and their role in shaping our successful habits, while elevating our work to the next level.

And while it’s true, you can achieve quite a lot in your business with nothing but gumption and some sweat equity, success can come a heck of a lot faster with a coach who knows what they’re doing. So, why hesitate to sign-up for a coach? After you’ve done your homework, read the reviews, memorized the money-back guarantees, what’s holding you back?

“It might be because having a coach might be interpreted as a sign of weakness. And what if we acknowledge our challenges but fail to overcome them?” writes Seth. And while there may be some truth to that statement, the other side of the coin could be you’re not forking away your hard-earned money to just anyone with a YouTube ad. And who can blame you?

Luckily, “coaching” comes in many shapes and sizes. Take Marmalead for example. There’s tons of free resources available on our blog and YouTube channel to help shape your ecommerce business. On top of that, we feature frequent content with industry professionals who have a proven track-record of offering free (and paid) workshops that bring results to real sellers like you. And while we don’t consider ourselves coaches, we’re all about helping online sellers achieve success in their business!

So browse through our resources, and if you need more help don’t be afraid to ask!
